Taiwan-based HTC smartphone company, previously announced their flagship blockchain-based smartphone, HTC Exodus 1, was in development back in May this year. Five months later, the company announced that the crypto focused phone is available for pre-order, but only with cryptocurrency.
The company released via Twitter:
“This is official early access release to the Exodus 1. We are inviting a community of developers and enthusiasts to work with us to keep building security. Join us in rebuilding trust together, one phone at a time. Get your early access now.”
The high-end smartphone touts a robust specs of hardware. The phone will ship with a 16-MP dual rear camera, a 6-inch Quad HD display, 6GB of RAM, 128 GB of inbuilt storage, HTC BoomSound Hi-Fi edition, Snapdragon 850 processor. The smartphone will also provide features such as social key recovery, trusted User Interface (UI), dApp integration and secure enclave.
The pre-order will secure clients with a smartphone that will ship in December 2018. The price of the Exodus 1, will set users back 0.15 BTC or 4.78 ETH, using current market prices sets it at approximately $950. The phones will be available to clients in the United States, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Hong Kong and 30 other countries. A notable exception being China, with the claim that their stance against cryptocurrency is not conducive to the market.
HTC’s blockchain smartphone aim is to provide an extra layer of security for its customers.
